Julian’s father, Brian, made the announcement to Julian and his family that he had won on Thanksgiving day.  “It was very exciting finding out that I had won the Bell Contest at Thanksgiving dinner when my dad told me,” Julian told Bell Racing, “It made me feel very thankful for all the people that supported me and voted for me.”

Garfield entered the contest in July and with his family, worked to promote his video over the last several months.  Julian plans to use his winnings to help with the expense of racing parts and travel for next season.  He is also donating a portion to one of his classmates who has been diagnosed with cancer. 

Julian began his racing career at the age of five in SCCA Solo (autocrossing). The next year he stepped up to the Kid Kart and by age nine, Garfield was driving a 60cc shifter cart. Julian comes by his racing honestly with both parents and two grand parents still involved in motorsports.

This season, Julian continued in SCCA Solo competition and won both the FJB Solo National Championship and the FJB Pro Solo National Series Championship. Julian also entered Sprint Racing competition in the form of Rotax Minimax. In his first full season of Sprint racing, Julian won the Keystone/Buckeye Region Rotax series in Minimax.  More information about Julian and his racing is available at www.juliangarfield.com.

The video contest was announced at the 2007 PRI Show and concluded on November 14, 2008.  Seventeen videos were entered by sprint car drivers, late model racers, land speed competitors and karters.  Entrants ranged from those who have only raced for a few years to veterans of the sport.

Tayler's Infusion

Nineteen year old Tayler Malsam began racing shifter karts in 2005.  A year later, Malsam raced in his first sprint car event.  He made the feature in his first outlaw race during the same season and hasn’t slowed down since.  During his short career, Tayler has competed in NASCAR Craftsmen Truck, ARCA stock car, 410 & 360 winged dirt sprint car, midget, 16 series offroad car, formula TR, shifter karts.

This season was Tayler’s rookie year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series where he finished ninth in points.  Following the last race of the ARCA season, Tayler climbed into the #41 Dodge at Martinsville Speedway for his second start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.  For 2009, Tayler hopes to sign on to run in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

This past July, Roger competed for the first time at Gateway International Raceway in Collinsville, IL.  Racing against a group of experienced drivers, Roger finished 11th. 

Roger’s video showcases his driving ability and the many trophies he has to show for his young career.  At the track, Roger is frequently accompanied by his grandfather Buz.  As a member of Roger’s “crew”, Buz often records his racing.  Click here to see more videos of Roger’s racing.

Owen Leatherberry is a seven year old kart racer from Wisconsin.  This season, Owen competed in the Mid-States Super Series.  In July, Owen became the Kid Kart Nationals Champion at the 6th annual Kid Kart Nationals, held by the St. Louis Karting Association.  The win improved on Owen’s third place finish in the 2007 competition in the restricted class.

This past weekend, Owen scored an impressive victory at I-55 Speedway and wrapped up the 2008 SKUSA (Superkarts USA) Central States Challenge Series Championship in the Kid Kart Division. He came into the race weekend with just a 16 point advantage over second place, and would set the bar high taking his third pole award of the season. Owen went on to score wire to wire victories in the pre-final and final.

This season,  Leatherberry also took first place in the SLKA SKUSA Challenge Series, the WKA ManCup at Lowes Motor Speedway and the WKA Grand Nationals in Dousman, WI. 

During his first season in 2006, Owen won six races.  He competed in Dousman, WI at his home track, Badger Kart Club.  He also traveled to the Briggs and Stratton Complex at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. 

In 2007, Owen continued to improve his performance with over 20 checkered flags to his credit.  These wins included three in the same day at the Road America Motorpex.

She joined the ASCS National Tour in 2004 and became the first woman to post multiple top-ten feature finishes in a single season of ASCS competition, with top-ten runs including a sixth place finish at Tunica’s Delta Bowl Raceway on June 19 and a seventh place at Lubbock’s Tech Motor Speedway on July 1. In 2007 Natalie became the first woman to win a major ASCS trophy when she won the Midwest Points Championship.

 Natalie also competed in the Miss Teen North Dakota pageant where she was voted Miss Congeniality! She has since competed in the Miss North Dakota pageant as well.  Natalie hopes to eventually compete in the NASCAR Series or the Indy League.

During the 2008 season, Natalie raced with the ASCS Midwest Region.  She has also competed in several states, including Washington and at the Knoxville Nationals.

Jason Johnson

Jason Johnson is a professional Sprint Car driver from Eunice, Louisiana known as “The Cajun Sensation”.  Johnson began racing full time in 1998 throughout the southern United States.  In 2000, Johnson competed in his first year as a professional race car driver. 
During his career, Johnson has raced with the World of Outlaws, the All Star Circuit of Champions, the National Championship Racing Association and the American Sprint Car Series.  He also races frequently in Australia with the World Series Sprint Cars.
In 2006, Jason was foted the number one driver in the 360 poles for 2006.  He was the ASCS Speedweek Champion and the Iowa Speedweek Champion.  The 2007 season netted Johnson 22 wins in the ASCoT, ASCS Regional Tours, USCS and the World Series Sprint Cars in Australia and Tasmania.

Brandon Loverock

Brandon Loverock is a Late Modle driver from Highland, CA.  Brandon began racing in 1999 and competes in the NASCAR Super Late Model Division.  In January 2007, Brandon suffered a torn achilles tendon and was in a wheelchair for six months.  During his injury, he tried to race in the new Super Late Model the team had built for 2007 but was only able to run half of the race due to the pain.

Loverock has healed and during the 2008 season, he ran in a Late Model at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, CA.    Still to come this year for Brandon is the open race in Las Vegas October 23rd and 24th and the Toyota All Star shootout race in January in all three divisions; Grand National West, Super Late Models and Late Models.  The Toyota All Star shootout will have eight hours of live coverage on the Speed network.
